Just a thought...
In these times when it seems
like there is no end
to the ever increasing
government intrusion
in our lives,
please always remember and
don't ever forget:
Government works for you.
You do not work for Government.

Once again the Christmas season is upon us. Where did the year go? This
year it seems like the stores started earlier than ever with the
Christmas stuff. Along about Halloween I started seeing Christmas
related stuff popping up. I remember as a kid I couldn't wait for
Christmas, it couldn't get here fast enough. Now I just dread it. The
over commercialization of the Holiday just makes
me sick. Everybody's in it to make a buck. I was just stunned when I
heard that 35,000 people showed up at midnight to shop at the new mall.
Geez, can't you at least wait till the a reasonable hour, like 4:00am
to start shopping. What has gotten into people? I'm not much of a
religious person, but all those years my Mother made me go to Sunday
school taught me the 25th of December, known as Christmas to most of
us, is really a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Please, in
the hussle and bussle of the Holiday Season, take a moment to remember
that's what we are supposed to be doing. Remind the little one's too
that Christmas is a celebration of a the birth of a baby, not just a
day to get the latest piece of trendy plastic crap.
I would like to extened a great big Thank You to the people responsible for manger scene in Don & Tony's old gas station. It's elegant and very well done and a great reminder of what this season is supposed to be about. Happy Holidays to all!!

Did you know that there were no signs as you enter our community letting people know what the name of our fine community is? No longer is that the case!! The Dexter Park board has erected a rather large sign in the parking area out by the interstate. It points out some of the historical points of interest here and is a great way to welcome people to our community. Thanks to all involved for all the hard work in getting it put up.
The construction of the Dexfield Park Markers in nearing completion. They are a beautiful reminder of what was once a major attraction for this area of the state and also how much history that this area holds. Stop out and see them. If you don't know where the Dexfield Park used to be, go to Drew's Chocolate's and turn north on the highway for about 3 miles. At the bottom of the hill by the river you will find them on the west side of the road. If your interested in more information about the park you can find it on this page. Also our local museum has pictures and more information.
