Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

It’s warm out! Well, it is warmer than the Canadian deep freeze we sat in last week, so let’s thaw ourselves out with a few random thoughts…

  1. Have you ever noticed that no matter how well you prepare for a big holiday meal that you always end up eating much more than you should. I had been looking forward to gorging myself on ham balls and turkey and envisioned myself eating plate after plate and then waddling up to the dessert table for pie. One plate and I was done, which only goes to prove that I have eaten so many peanut butter sandwiches that my body can no longer handle real food.

  2. If the outside temperature never gets to -20 again I’ll be alright with that.

  3. You know that it is winter in Iowa when you drive around trying to find a gas station with a working air hose.

  4. If you have an entire afternoon to kill, get a group of kids and bulk size food and tell them to trade around until they get something they like. Much more fun than the saran wrap game.

  5. My New Year’s resolutions have already been broken, can I have a mulligan?

  6. We have lost too many dear friends and good people the last couple of weeks. Please drink your juice and take a nap.

  7. I’m constantly amazed at how worked up people get about what is being said by the current occupant of the White House. I think a majority of the things said that are working people up probably wouldn’t if we ignored it and worried about more important things. If all the Hollywood types spent half the time doing something more than worrying about tweets, think of all the good that could be done.

  8. Nearly out of date Keebler Chips Delux cookies marked down at the local store for quick sale. Win! WIN!

  9. Finally this week… the only good part of the Christmas holiday being over is that we are that much closer to State Fair time! See you next week…remember we’re all in this together.
