Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Ok...back to random thoughts this week so I can clear all the little pieces of paper out of my wallet.

  1. I have on good authority that the Melody Makers sang this weekend in Earlham. I'm still trying to figure out why one member was banished on a supposed vacation. I suppose that when you get famous taking time off and roaming around the country is just what you do?
  2. Some nights I have way to much time to think. Here's a thought that has been running through my head lately. "it is only when we embrace, rather than to ignore, the imperfections of those around us, that we can truly love the people around us for how perfect they are." Think on that for a bit.
  3. Between basketball and wrestling I don't know where the weekends go. Max had another tournament on Sunday. Hes always laughing and smiling and having fun even when he's getting pinned.
  4. For my Dexfield friends out there who pick this column up and read it, please make sure to note that there will be an all 80's Reunion this year at the 150th Old Settler's Celebration in June. For more information visit www.dexfield.org
  5. The job hunt continues. There have been some really interesting interviews and some that I would rather not remember! Ughh..
  6. Remember folks, try to do as much business with your local retailers as you can. Keeping business strong keeps communities strong.
  7. I'm sure that somewhere above all this fog is sunshine. I'm sure of it!
  8. I owe my friend from Nebraska an appology for not mentioning the amazing history lesson she sent me a while back. Keep watching your mail. There is something special coming your way as soon as I can get it boxed up and shipped off.
  9. I've found that there is no better cure for a cold than just being sick. Why do we fight it all the time. Sometimes just saying "OK I'm sick and I'm going to go lay down seems to work the best.
  10. And finally this week. I'm suffering from Wii arm. That little video game contraption that sits under my television and keeps the kids occupied for hours on end is starting to get the better of me. Do you suppose health insurance covers you if your are injured while golfing on the Wii?

See you next week. Remember...we're all in this together.
