Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

As we roll ourselves into February I think we all deserve a little dose of random thoughts minus any political garbage….so let’s find our way shall we?

  1. I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. Never have been…never will be, although I do like the fact that a slug of yummy candy will be on sale towards the end of the month!

  2. I’d have to say that we have been pretty fortunate this year so far with the lack of snow fall. It is still early yet, so I think I’ll hold off putting the air conditioner in.

  3. Remember when we all complained that Facebook was getting really old because all people posted is what they were having for dinner? Would give my right arm for those kind of posts lately.

  4. Warning to all of you driving new vehicles who have any kind of mechanical skill. Get your oil changed at the dealer or one of those fast lube places. Seems that if you do it yourself your vehicle warranty is no good. That’s my public announcement for today.

  5. I ended my year as Iowa FFA Alumni President last weekend. I came home and took a deep breath and then took a long nap. Ready to get back involved at the local level…there are some great things happening locally.

  6. Speaking of great things….Did you happen to see the end of the ADM/Winterset boy’s basketball game that made ESPN and CNN? Regardless of who you were rooting for, as Coach Orr would say, “Man that was a dinger!”

  7. Note to young people learning to sack groceries…cold items should never be put in the same sack as bathroom items. Note to grocery shoppers….if you remember buying ice cream make sure you put ice cream in freezer and not on shelf by the dryer.

  8. I know that God has a sense of humor because no matter how careful I am about not tracking through the house and putting my wet boots by the door I will inevitably step in the only puddle of water in my dry socks every time.

  9. I won’t start talking about State Fair and corndogs quite yet, but I’m very happy to have already signed up for my spots driving the Tram again this year! It’s a great time and might become a regular part of my summer!

  10. Finally this week, I spent a few minutes watching a bald eagle eat what was left of one of the roosters who had wandered into the road the other day…(insert why did the chicken cross the road joke here). He kept looking over at me as he munched away and I had a hard time deciding if he was inviting me to share or wondering how long it would take him to fly over and peck out my eyes. I figured that the safest spot to watch him was from inside the house…I may be chicken but I’m no dummy! See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
