Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

It’s leap year….it’s random thoughts.

  1. I had the honor of judging district speech contest last weekend. The Earlham community should be proud of the work put in by the staff and volunteers in order to host this event. It was a great day and I believe everyone had fun.

  2. I’ve been trying to type this column between doing laundry and watching the Daytona 500 on television. I’m not generally one who is able to stay awake more than 30 laps into any race, but this one has been a dinger! Especially flaming jet dryers. I kept looking for Ricky Bobby to appear running around the track asking Oprah for help.

  3. Max turned ten last week. I’m actually not surprised he made it this far, however I am surprised that he hasn’t yet finalized his plan to overthrow the world.

  4. Bucket list update. After a long drought I’ve been lucky enough to head back to the working world this past week. The first morning back, as the assignments were handed out, I stood quietly as I was the low man on the totem pole so to speak. When the boss informed me that I was going to be learning to drive the locomotive and hoped that was alright, I just about fainted. Yes, they actually paid me to drive a train all day. I love this job!

  5. Pie.

  6. The Dexter Methodists will be celebrating 150 years this December, which will include a visit from the bishop. Look for details on the celebration to come.

  7. I have it on good authority…The Melody Makers have started practicing together once again and are kicking around the idea of a Christmas Concert. Great news…I’ve still got dibs on the first copy when they produce a CD!

  8. I laughed the other morning as I counted the cars in the ditch between Dexter and Stuart on my way to work. Some of us forgot how to drive in snow, and others just never learn even though they have been told hundreds of times they drive to fast.

  9. March already? I’m getting the itch to start planning my garden. I hope it’s a better year for tomatoes then last year.

  10. Finally this week. There are few truths in life. One of those truths that we should remember and post on our refrigerator doors is…God is Good.

See you next week…Remember, we’re all in this together.
