Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

How about a few random thoughts, in random order of course…

  1. Drove up to Saylorville on my lunch yesterday and with the little bit of sun on the trees it looked just like those puzzles that your crazy aunt bought you when you were a kid.
  2. Have been enjoying poking around on a new Iowa history website reading through books that have been transcribed? It is interesting to see the beginnings of Iowa History as seen only a few years after it was made.
  3. There are few things that make winter bearable. Ham and Beans is one of them.
  4. I’m guessing the cat has had enough of the cold weather and is ready to be let out of the house. Either that, or perhaps the cat just doesn’t like the bathroom rug.
  5. When scooping snow and watching the plow bury the end of your driveway yet again I sometimes stop and ask myself. “What would Chuck Norris do?”
  6. March? Lion or lamb? I’ll go with the lamb myself…ground into a cooked patty and topped with pickles and ketchup. Just guessing but I bet lion tastes like chicken.
  7. Wonder where we’d all be without the pharmacist? Likely still at home in bed.
  8. The boy turned 5 last weekend. Took a bunch of his little friends to see Charlottes Web at the theatre. Movie was good, but the most laughs came during the pre-movie trailer as one of his little friends who was obviously confused as to when the movie was really starting began to shout “What the heck is this?” every time a new trailer would start.
  9. I’ve heard reports of robins in the area and of flowers coming up but I’m still going to hold my excitement for really warm weather until May. In the meantime I’m going to go find something warm for lunch. Hope you are all staying warm and that we make it through this week without any of our neighbors or ourselves loosing power.

See you next week…Remember, we’re all in this together.
