Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

So many things to say and so little time this week.

Mother nature sure seems to be giving us the big one finger salute lately. Just enough to tease us this past weekend with temperatures that we so nice I almost thought about not wearing a sweatshirt, and then plunging us back into the living nightmare that has become the daily commute to work this winter. (I swear to God if I get a hold of that groundhog I will ring his neck.)

The seed catalogs have started coming and with the mud this weekend I started to get the itch to put in my garden. It only took a few minutes of standing at the edge of it to decide that perhaps I should let more frost get out of the ground before I attempt to turn the soil with the tiller, and I retreated over the snowdrift between it and the house and went to find somewhere warmer.

Much in the same way that life cycles with the season so to am I finding this winter especially troubling. I look forward to the daffodils emerging, and for the grass to turn green and the trees starting to bring forth the buds that will lead to green leaves. I long to sit on the porch and drink ice tea while waving at cars passing the house in between naps as the sun shines on my face. And for the quiet nights where having the wind blow through the windows and not lay in bed wondering what I could find in the house to stick over them to keep the wind out.

Yes, it’s been a long Winter, maybe longer than I have remembered lately. I’m sure the global warmists will tell me that it’s all because of my lack of living green that’s causing these cold days. But warmer weather is ahead I’m sure…bring on May and June…I’m ready.

See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
