Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

The last time I sat down at this computer and had time to seriously ponder what to put forth on paper I was complaining about the cold weather and we were somewhere in March! What happened to March, the supposed in like a lion out like a lamb month? It just wandered away and turned into April before I even knew what was going on. So let’s do a few random thoughts just for fun…

  1. This time of year is kind of interesting weather wise. We have warm days and cold nights which is kinda fun except when you are too lazy to shut the windows and wake up with a scratchy throat.

  2. The search continues for my distant James relatives. Just in the last month the mystery is slowly starting to unravel itself a bit with the complete fluke of finding my Great Great Great Grandfather Thomas’s mothers name in census records. Over the weekend I’ve already corresponded with a fourth cousin once removed in Illinois who had information on Thomas’ siblings which has been very interesting. The only part that is still a mystery is who his father was.

  3. You know your mother loves you when she makes you ham balls.

  4. Max and I spent Saturday doing a few odd jobs and drove through both Dexter and Stuart during their Easter Egg hunts. We couldn’t imagine where all those kids came from but it looked like they were having a great time!

  5. Have you noticed how much the frogs are enjoying the warm weather? I drove by a farm pond the other day and they were just croaking away!

  6. It might be a good time to sit the kids down and go over your severe storm plan. With the start of spring and storm season coming up it is good to be prepared.

  7. The two youngest children and I ventured down to Winterset to check out the new HyVee over the weekend. It’s amazing how much that entire stretch of road has now changed, with the addition of a pizza ranch and another bank. The Hy Vee was small but well stocked and the service was friendly. It will probably take them a few weeks to get all the bugs worked out but the loads of grocery sacks in my trunk didn’t seem to mind to much.

  8. Easter services were amazing this morning. It is so nice to see a full church and to squeeze in and sit close to your neighbors and friends. For the kids who got a chuckle out of me singing the bass part of “He Arose” I can only say that I’m sure Ruth Sellers was looking down on me with those loving eyes as I belted it out. Wouldn’t church be fun if it was that full all the time? See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
