Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Every once in a great while I get the chance to take time to just sit and reflect on things. I’m not saying that I ever come up with anything major but there are times when a few of the thoughts I have bubble to the surface and why not share them with all of you in the form of random thoughts…

  1. We are all way to entitled these days. It’s as though at some point along the line we feel we should be given things just because of who we are. I think this was pretty obvious the last few weeks as I watched potential political office seekers fight over having enough signatures to be placed on the ballots. It seems that it’s pretty easy to see that if the rule calls for a certain number of signatures that one would make darn sure they had at least ten percent more than necessary. It’s not rocket science here.

  2. I’m over winter and the associated weather that has come with it. It’s not that I don’t like spending lazy days laying on the couch and watching golf, but it’s high time that I could do that without needing multiple blankets to keep my legs warm.

  3. In an interview last week I was asked what would keep me from succeeding at a certain task. My answer covered that I was concerned that I would overextend myself because I’ve gotten in this rut of not being able to say “no” when I need to. Definitely something to work on now that I’ve identified it.

  4. One fun part about cold weather is that maybe it will make some young ladies reconsider the need for a little more material on their prom dresses this year. I see full length dresses with big poofy arms making a come back!

  5. I’m not sure where the administration is going with the sabre rattling with China over terriffs but it seems to me that neither side really has much bargaining power at this point. I can’t really see either of us existing without the other. The days of isolationism and not being a player in the world market are long gone. Now if I could just convince my 401k that things will be alright I’ll have it made.

  6. The problem with being a part of a much more social and computerized society that not only is big brother always watching, but now everyone else is. I get why people want to move to a cabin in the woods.

  7. When you have a craving for brownies, nothing but brownies will satisfy that craving, but a Blizzard from Dairy Queen sure helps.

  8. I was reading a copy of the Stuart Locomotive from the 1870s the other day and noticed a quip in there that stated “A community that cannot or will not support a local newspaper is on the decline surely, because there will be no one to champion that community.” True then as it is now.

  9. Just a quick word to all my farm friends. It’s only April 10th and not June 10th…stop stressing out so much.

  10. Finally this week. I’ve not yet seen the movie “I Can Only Imagine” but I hear that it is amazing. It’s on the list along with the new documentary about Mr. Rogers if I ever find the time to go. Have an amazing week and be kind to each other. See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
