Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

How about a few random thoughts this week?

1.Gas Prices. One word. Outrageous!

2.Speaking of gas prices. In order to lessen the strain on the poor oil companies, the President today suspended rules mandating Ethanol in place of the additive MTBE. Supposedly this will help reduce the costs to the suffering companies and lessen prices at the pumps. Obviously the President was never a stay at home Dad. My children use the same trick to end up getting the things they wanted every time I have said "No".

3.Cold snap? Good, maybe it will keep the June bugs from infesting my back step.

4.There's simply nothing like standing in the rain directing traffic at 2 in the morning. And to be honest, spending that time with a great friend made it a wonderful break from much needed sleep.

5.Speaking of breaks.  I've had more than enough of a break from hearing the Melody Makers.

6.The fun part about spring is finding the things you left in the yard in the fall. Like the horse shoe you've been missing since the 4th of July.

7.One will always find said horseshoe with the new riding lawn mower.

8.State Fair time will be here before we know it. Between Freedom Fest, Good Egg Days, Old Settlers and Fall Festival, not to mention Ragbrai coming through, it is going to be one busy summer.

9.There are days when I wonder if anyone at work can tell that inside I'm completely and utterly asleep at my desk.

10.Hmmm..The Cubs seem to be doing O.K. so far. Could this be the year?

See you next week...Remember, we're all in this together.
