Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

A break in the rain, the perfect chance to mow the yard before it begins to rain again!

Wandering out to the shed, uncovering the John Deere and backing out of the shed, the yellow deck shining with the moisture from the small blades of grass as they are unceremoniously whacked to shreds by the blades of the mower, their green mushy bodies discharged forcefully out of the chute.

Back and forth across the yard, the pattern like harvest or planting, each pass moving closer to the finish. The discarded heads of thousands of dandelions scattered across the smooth carpet of the lawn, as the dog chases back and forth across the mowers path moving sticks and other objects she has found into the path of the mower to hear the thud and whack as they are ground up by the psychotic blades.

Then I saw it, or at least I think I did. It's getting cold, the clouds, which held throughout the day, finally had broken allowing the last few gleaming beams of sunlight to stab through and warm my face. Maybe the sun was in my eyes, maybe I had been too cold and my brain was beginning to freeze. I better back up and check again. Once, Twice, Three times. It might be? There, by the edge of the lawn in a pile of leaves and rotting flower stems, its little head peaking up at me, taunting me, teasing me. At least, until I swept down before the dog rolled over it, to pluck it from the ground and spirit it away to the house.

Yes, my friends, it's morel time! See you next week..Remember, we're all in this together.
