Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

I love Netflix. For one low monthly fee you can have movies delivered to your door, and as many of those a month as you can watch and get sent back into them. When they get a movie back they send the next one on your list. It's great!

I have a great appreciation of old movies. The kind of movies they just don't make any more. Back in the days when a movie wasn't about a television show, or how many people you could kill off during the movie, unless it was a war picture.

The last few weeks I've seen some really good ones. There was the independent film Escanaba by Da Moonlight which is a daring independent film about a group of Michigan deer hunters. The comedy portrayed in this movie about the 39 and holding man who hadn't bagged his trophy buck yet, was outstanding and I've yet to meet a person who hasn't had to turn the movie off just to catch their breath from laughing so much. Well worth the search to find it online or at the local video store.

The movie I watched this past weekend was an Oscar winning film titled "Meet John Doe". For those of us to young to remember this fitting tale, I enjoyed the fact that this movie abounds with themes about the common man and being a good neighbor, which as you know is something that I harp on in this space from time to time. This film should be a must for every one who has a neighbor or lives in a small town and has forgotten just what can be accomplished when we all start actually communicating with each other.

It's really too bad they don't make more movies like this any more. Perhaps they wouldn't be the big box office bashes that the studios need to break even on the multi-millon dollar budget flicks, but they sure are a sight more pleasant to watch and give a better message than seeing scores of people have their heads blown off by a plasma shooting bazooka.

See you next week..Remember, we're all in this together.
