Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

A few random thoughts this week, as I’m still suffering a bit from last Saturday nights almost annual BBQ and fireworks extravaganza.

  1. Great parade Earlham!!! When those of us at the front meet the end of the parade back at the beginning you know that you’ve had a great one.
  2. Speaking of parades. If in the course of your life you ever want to freeze 1000 freeze pops overnight in your deep freezer, you should know that it probably won’t happen. The good news is that Sam’s Club is usually open in the early morning on a holiday when you need to buy parade candy.
  3. July is here and summer is in full swing. I hate to mention it but the kids will be back in school faster than any of us realize.
  4. An afternoon at Adventureland is enough to make anyone feel just a little bit better about themselves and their parenting skills.
  5. We could probably use a good soaking rain to speed my garden along. Staring to get peppers but the tomatoes seem to be out a few weeks yet. Of course, by that time it will also begin the dreaded mystery zucchini season. When great herds of them suddenly appear on the front step of your unsuspecting neighbors in the middle of the night.
  6. Redfield will take a stab at Old Settlers in July in two weeks. Looking forward to that as always.
  7. If you park your camper in your yard and sleep in it, does it still count as camping?
  8. Finally, remember to water those outdoor pets often on hot days that we’ve had the last few weeks. It’s the right thing to do, plus keeps them from drinking out of the kids’ wading pool.

See you next week….Remember, we’re all in this together.
