It's been too hot to get deep in thought this week, so it is time for random thoughts.
1. The mail bandits have been at it again on the south end of Dexter. Just a friendly reminder to those in the area to keep a close eye on your mailbox and write down anything suspicious.
2. With all the rumors of who is and isn't building ethanol plants around it may get to the point where there is one on every corner.
3. A trip to Adventureland before the State Fair is guaranteed to make you feel better about yourself, and to tune you up for people who really shouldn't be wearing tube tops.
4. A couple of Dexter landmarks are nearly gone this week. Creager's Cafe and Love's Shoe Shop are both now simply memories of my youth. It's sad to see old buildings go, but I understand why it had to be done.
5. Just in case you were wondering, the crops in northern Iowa look horrible. I was in the Storm Lake area last week on business and the corn is waist high and tasseling up there.
6. I've been mulling over taking a drive to Missouri lately, but then just when I've talked myself into it the gas prices go up.
7. There seems to be days when I'm running so fast that I'll never catch up. I could go for a good nap in a hammock about now, or maybe just an afternoon of sitting under the arms of a big oak tree.
8. Do you ever find yourself in a rut with what you are eating? I've been hungry for cake lately for no explainable reason. Maybe my sugar is low?
9. Finally this week, I've been working taking 10 minutes every day just to look at the world around me from the porch of the house. I'm finding out that it wasn't as bad as I thought.
