Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Such a nice stretch of weather lately I’m thinking about a few random thoughts this week.

  1. I flew to Cleveland last week and as we took off in the early morning hours it was amazing to look down and see all the lights and try to figure out what towns I was looking at. Most of the time I just make an uneducated guess but on the way home I was able to tell exactly when we flew over Clinton on the way home from the bend in the river.

  2. The two youngest needed new shoes and I’ve been promising them a trip to the shoe store for a couple of weeks now. Both of them found shoes and Paige was so excited about hers that she has refused to wear them until her birthday and just carries them around with her in the box. It’s the little things in life sometimes that make us the happiest.

  3. I had the honor to announce a couple of pee-wee football games this weekend when the Earlham and West Central Valley kids played. It really was a lot of fun although I apologize for the feedback from the PA system to those of you on the visitor side of the field.

  4. The remodeling project is really coming along nicely. Target move in date is November 1st and there is a lot to accomplish before then. I had forgotten just what a difference insulation can make in a home!

  5. Harvest seems to be somewhere between half way and almost done. Which is a good thing because you know there are a few farmers out there that have harvested twice this year.

  6. Is there anyone out there who would like to take pity on a certain local columnist who likes apple crisp but isn’t friends with his apple crisp source anymore?

  7. Have you seen Brenna Findley’s commercial on television? Not only is it way cool but we sure hope she does well in the coming election.

  8. Is it just me or is there an excessive amount of road kill this time of the year? First it was skunks, including that one on the way into Earlham on the highway that I had had managed to miss for three days until I hit it one morning, and now it’s raccoons.

  9. Finally this week, I know that it’s not Halloween yet and Christmas is far away but I did notice that John up to the Hometown Market in Earlham has AE Egg Nog on the shelf…really? Already? Not complaining…it’s yummy stuff.

See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
