Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

It’s the start of a new month and it doesn’t seem quite possible that November is here already. But, in the spirit of all things that come and go like the ticking of the never ending clock of time, let’s spend a few of those minutes with some random thoughts.

  1. For some strange reason I’ve been on a grilled cheese sandwich kick lately. I’m not really sure if it is the cooler weather or just the ease of making one after a 12 hour day at work, but they sure are hitting the spot.

  2. I spent most of Monday night out in the pumpkin patch waiting on the Great Pumpkin to arrive. Unfortunately I fell asleep and am sure I missed him.

  3. Harvest has been moving along fairly smooth the last month, thanks to the stretch of dry weather that hopefully will break this week. After 28 days straight I looked in the mirror and realized my last haircut was in late July and I’ve got an Andy Gibb thing going on. Not pretty.

  4. I broke down and fired up the furnace over the weekend. Then proceeded to dust the house. Every year I try to wait until November to turn it on, but coming home to a warm house certainly was a treat.

  5. So, it’s like twenty-some days until Thanksgiving and then “black Friday”. Ok…I’m just going to say this so please listen carefully. STOP BUYING GARBAGE YOU DON’T NEED! It seems to me that we as a whole are kind of dumb sometimes. You spend an entire day being THANKFUL for the people around you and just enjoying the time spent together, and the next day some of us feel the need to get up at 3 a.m. and spend two months pay on junk to give the people we are thankful for just to make them like us. Seriously? Think about it. Give me your time…that’s what I want. If you want to give me something…give me that. (Well and maybe a Cheeseburger from The Duck)

  6. Speaking of The Duck. Kudos for the Honorable Mention on the Tenderloin.

  7. There have been a couple of nasty farm accidents lately. Come on folks…let’s all slow down a bit and take time. Anytime we loose someone to an accident on the farm it hurts and entire community.

  8. The camper has been winterized so I guess camping season is officially over now. Until I win the Powerball and buy that big self-contained bus that is!

  9. Do you let the fear of things that will be hard, keep you from taking the chance that will lead to your happiness?

  10. Finally this week, (mostly because I’m starting to turn into a horse and have actually fallen asleep standing up twice this week), I’ve been taking the time each morning to sit quietly and start my day with prayer. It’s strange that I’ve been the kind of person who has prayed my entire life. But instead of using my prayers for needs, I’ve been starting the day using them for praises and thankfulness. It’s interesting what a difference that small amount of time each morning has made in my overall attitude as I go throughout my day. Give it a try won’t you?

See you next week…Remember, we’re all in this together.
