Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Random thoughts this week…I can see your excitement already…

  1. There has been an excessive amount of teeth grinding this week after the election. It has been interesting watching it happen and a little disappointing as well. Have we brought this upon ourselves by neglecting to teach people how to lose gracefully?

  2. If anyone would like to do a rain dance let’s get busy around Thanksgiving Day…I’ve got a busy weekend of renewing my love of turkey and stuffing planned and need the time off of work.

  3. I’ve never been much of a hunter, but I have noticed that you tend to see the really big deer right before the season really gets going.

  4. The bald eagles are starting to return which makes the impeding cold weather almost bearable.

  5. Remember that while you have a warm day or two, it would be a good idea to clean out those gutters, unless you have that one tree that won’t drop its leaves until just after you have. In that case you might as well wait and hope the wind will blow them out.

  6. One of the farm yards we used to load this week brought on a confusing scene. A young boy of about 8 or 9 years old was digging a hole out in the middle of the yard. When I asked him what he was doing he stopped…leaned on his shovel and looked at me in disgust. “I’m digging a hole.”, he said. I shouldn’t have asked.

  7. I took a couple of the kids to the Machine Shed for breakfast the other morning and their new notification buzzers look like small tasers. It was especially funny to watch the oldest one chase her brother around with it pretending to “tase” him until the moment where she touched him with it and it lit up and started to buzz.

  8. I hate mentioning the “C” word is coming soon especially since I’ve not started shopping at all, but I’m challenging you to attempt to get into the mood sometime soon. Don’t forget it is never to early to start doing something nice for someone else.

  9. Great wins by the Cyclones and Hawkeyes this past weekend, and amazing plays done in the area high schools. So much talent around here, who needs a big city?

  10. Finally this week…the freeloading cat has learned how to climb the chicken coop fence and crawls up on top to taunt the roosters. It’s a fun game to watch but I’m afraid he is probably in for a big surprise when the chickens can figure out that they can fly. See you next week…remember, we’re all in this together.
