Consider this quote from Abe Lincoln

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

With the New Year upon us, many of you will take time to make new year’s resolutions. It happens every year, and although you say over and over again this is the year you’ll stick to them, they usually seem to go down the drain by mid March. Rather than coming up with a list of things I will vow to do, how bout a list of unresolutions? (Can you see this as a clever disguise to random thoughts?)

So being filled with egg nog and one too many pieces of peanut brittle I make the following unresolutions for 2007.

  1. I will not worry about dieting.
  2. I will not see how many gutter balls I can throw in league this year.
  3. I will not eat anything that still has eyes.
  4. I will not operate my motor vehicle in a reckless manner.
  5. I will not pass up the opportunity to make someone smile.
  6. I will not make fun of the menu at Starbucks.
  7. I will not take another class, no matter how much fun it might seem.
  8. I will not drink any more. I won’t drink any less either.
  9. I will not refer to any dark cloud as the second coming of Christ.
  10. I will not use my children as slave labor.
  11. I will not count two cans as one in order to sneak into the 10 items or less line at the store.
  12. I will not fall asleep with my eyes open during church.
  13. I will not attempt to make Macaroni and Cheese with beer when I’m out of milk.

That should do it for now…I don’t want to narrow down the things I can do too much. Happy New Year folks, let’s hope 2007 is a darn sight better than the old year has been .

See you next week…Remember, we’re all in this together.
